FANTAIL: The fantail is one of New Zealand’s most common, charming and friendly native bush birds. They dart around the lush NZ native forest in all directions, fanning their tails in and out as they capture insects on the wing
FERN: New Zealand is well known the world over for it’s beautiful native wild ferns. The most famous of all our tree ferns is the Ponga or as it’s more commonly known – the iconic NZ silver fern. The species is easily distinguished by the silver undersides of the fronds. The uncurling frond of a fern has special meaning to the Maori people. Beautiful jewellery made from bone and greenstone are made in the spiral shape to depict new life or beginnings, growth, harmony and peace.
